Customer Rating: Summary: Eggcellent! Comment: I have one of these little magic gadgets, don't know how it works but it does! Eggsactly what it says on the box.
Sorry couldn't resist the puns.
I have bought these to give to all my friends at New year as 'first footing' presents.
I do set a timer as well though as I have a habit of going away to do something else and forgetting about the pan of eggs DUH Egg Perfect - Colour Changing Egg Timer. My boiled eggs are always just how I like 'em.

Customer Rating: Summary: Just time the swines instead... Comment: Am staggered by the positive reception this little device has received, since I haven't managed to get it to work... at all. Followed instructions diligently, waited until the timer told me my eggs were between 'soft' and 'medium', took 'em out... and could've used 'em as military projectiles. D'oh..!! I think the flaw, here, is that while the timer will obviously respond to the water's heat to the same degree as your eggs will, it can't take account of an egg's *size*... because a biggun will clearly take longer to boil than a littlun, right..? Hence me being left with a panful of tiny eggy bullets. So... DON'T buy it, I say, and just do it with the clock instead... leaving your bigguns in for slightly longer than your littluns. Simple.
Customer Rating: Summary: Marie Comment: this is the best egg timer I have ever had. I have cooked 1 egg on its own and 5 at a time. wether you put them in cold water or Hot perfect eggs every time. Fantastic product
Customer Rating: Summary: oh dear Comment: I must be doing something wrong but i can't get this egg timer to work!! I have tried boiling a medium egg on numerous occasions and each time they come out hard boiled. I have more success when i simply guess the length of time. Certainly not worth the money and it now lives in a dusty drawer along with all the other useless kitchen gadgets purchased over the years..
Customer Rating: Summary: Great gadget Comment: This does work really well and I wouldn't boil an egg without it now. The colour changes to black (or dark red) gradually from the outside in as the egg cooks, and you just wait until the edge of darker colour reaches the "soft", "medium" or "hard" markings, however you like it. Perfect results every time. We have extremely hard water, but I always use filtered water and have never had a problem.
However, a warning if you're colour blind: it might not be quite so useful. My husband is colour blind and he has trouble seeing where the colour has changed.
