Summary: Among the best of the Izzard releases
Comment: This is the first stand up Izzard video/DVD in a series and the only one not available on DVD. Over the years the Eddie stand up releases have got more glitzy and showbizzy but not necessarily funnier. For me the first two - Live at the Ambassadors and Unrepeatable are the best two. They are spontaneous, fun and silly and come over as natural. Many of izzard's classic gag territories are on these first two releases, the shame is perhaps that in more recent releases the material hasnt moved on.
Whilst unrepeatable has the classics on advertising and cats and dogs, live at the ambassadors gives a great glance at early Izzard. It may lack the glitz of circle or sexie, but it is natural, if raw, and funny.
With the new 6 dvd box set of eddie izzard material soon coming out, I think its a great shame that ambassadors wasnt included.
For anyone that has a vhs copy of this, Hold on to it!!
Great stuff

Summary: Mmmmm, its just 1 to go into the collection
Comment: When i 1st saw this, i was bored to tears. Its not funny the 1st few times you see it. After a while however, once you know the jokes and have had time to digest them it does start to get a little funnier. Agree with the doctor who bit, that was funny. This release hasnt done anything to improve his reputation any, he come sout wearing an old denim shirt and tired stone wash jeans with a blonde quiff that towards the end of the video you can tell this was filmed over a series of nights and they have just used the segments that got the biggest laughs coz the quiff will be standing 1 mintue and collapsed the next but back up in the next shot.
Go for unrepeatable or definite article, not this 1. As my title says, if you are a fan and want to own all of them (which i did till a mate of a mate borrowed it and i never got it back) then get it, if you just want a funny vid....this isnt the 1.

Summary: Disappointing and directionless
Comment: This is a very early video of Eddie Izzard performing at the Ambassadors theatre in 1993. It's very basic and Eddie Izzards' style hasn't quite developed yet. Eddie has a very rambling style that works perfectly on his other videos, but on this one he frequently gets lost or goes off on a surreal tangent that just isn't funny. Often he looks like he's forgotten his lines and he's killing time fiddling with the mike stand.
For sure there's a few funny moments - I like the Doctor Who section but most of this video makes for fustrating veiwing. I think I only laughed about twice in this video, compared to his other videos which I laugh at all the way through, no matter how many times I see them.
Eddie Izzard fans may find this video interesting to see Eddie dressed as a man for once. Otherwise buy any other Eddie Izzard video instead. They are all good, except this one which is a big disappointment.

Summary: Eddie Izzard - Young, Fresh & Very Raw
Comment: I've been a fan of Eddie's since he first took to the stage in the fortnight club, so the chance to own Eddies first venture onto a West End stage was too much to pass by. If you're used to Eddies now polished performance this might be a shock to you, Eddie occasionally loses the audience in his flights of fancy but this is a classic I can't urge you enough to run out and buy it .. infact sit right where you are and buy it .. how easy is that ?"In the beggining was the word .. and the word was habadashery"
